nf-core Hackathon — Barcelona, October 2026

nextflownf-corehackathonbarcelona

The nf-core Hackathon comes to Barcelona on 15–16 October 2026, held in person at SB Glow. It’s part of Nextflow Summit 2026 week — which also includes a free virtual summit on 13–14 October — and in Barcelona runs alongside in-person Nextflow Training.

What it is

Over two days, members of the nf-core community come together to work on collaborative projects — developing pipelines, building modules and components, improving the website, and pushing forward special-interest-group initiatives. Participants pick from existing projects or propose their own, then work in small teams with designated leads, with plenty of peer code review and knowledge sharing along the way.

Who it’s for

Everyone is welcome, from complete beginners to seasoned developers. If you’d like to contribute to Nextflow workflows and bioinformatics tooling — and learn a lot from the community while you’re at it — this is a great place to do it.

Register

It’s a paid, in-person event — register on the Barcelona event page, where academic pricing and a 25% early-bird discount are available (early-bird until 31 July 2026). Full programme details are on the nf-core event page.

A note from Eco-Flow

We’re big fans of the nf-core hackathons — they’re where a lot of Eco-Flow’s pipeline work gets sharpened. If you’re heading to Barcelona, come and say hello! We will have to decide what to work on in advance, but likely some new releases of nf-core/genomeqc, and a new nanopore metabarcoding work we want to get into nf-core shape!
